GMT CAST IRON SURFACE PLATES
GMT Cast Iron Surface Plates are the result of many years of experience as a manufacturer both in foundry technology and metrology. These plates are of close-grained cast iron. They are amply ribbed to minimize deflection under load. Also, the composition of the metal, the depth and cross-section of the ribs, and the thickness of the plate are designed to conform to the deflection limits specified in IS-2285-2003. Also, we can finish plates to your choice of standards, such as DIN, JIS, BS, or ASME.
AVAILABLE GRADES
GMT Cast Iron Surface Plate is available in three grades: Grade-0, I & II, as per IS-2285-2003. As already mentioned, we can make them to other standards on request. Grade-I & Grade-II plates are artificially seasoned.
Grade-II plates are accurately machined on a GMT Flat Lapping Machine to get the requisite flatness.
Grade I plates are hand-scraped to achieve minimum local deviation from flatness as per standard at any point on the working surface.
Furthermore, we use a special scraping technique to achieve a uniform distribution of load-bearing points and oil pockets. This finish scraping technique ensures that the area of the load-bearing points increases after the initial dulling of the high points. This results in an average of 15-20% load-bearing points after finish scraping. Otherwise, the component will stick to the plate and be hard to move. For that reason, the special scraping guarantees a long working life, at the required accuracies.
STANDARD ACCESSORIES
We provide handles on plates of sizes 1000 x 630 mm and smaller. Also, we provide a wooden cover to protect the working surfaces.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
1: Fabricated Stands
Fabricated heavy angle iron stands with leveling screws are offered for all plates to provide convenient working height.
2: Cast Iron Column Floor Stands
Besides, we offer cast iron column floor stands, each with a set of levelling screws and nuts as an option.
For sizes up to 2000 x 1000mm plate: One set of 5 & 3 for levelling screws and nuts and 2 for support.
For sizes above 2000 x 1000 mm: One set of 7 & 5 for levelling and two for support.
Finally, to meet special requirements, we offer custom size cast iron surface plates on request. So, multiple plates are assembled, for sizes above 4000×1200 mm, with fabricated heavy angle iron stands and bedplates with special cast iron floor stands.
